Stress can be useful
Have you ever been in a
situation when you fell that all the problems of the whole world have
fallen on your shoulders? When you feel, like if you even could stop
the time it wouldn’t be enough to fit in deadlines with all the
tasks you’ve put aside? And as soon as you can’t stop the time
all the tasks you have to complete become twice harder and you find
yourself crying in absolute frustration? That what is called stress.
The more we grow the more we face it and it becomes our habit, but it
depends on us only what kind of habit it will be: either a good one,
which can persuade us to do much more we can imagine, or a bad one,
which can seal us down to the bottom. Today I would like to talk
about how to make the stress work on us, how to train yourself and to
face the most terrifying problems of your life.
1. First of
all, we need to understand with what kind of phenomenon we fight.
Stress had
been our companion for a long time and it’s
a fact that without it humankind wouldn’t probably survived. Stress
is a primarily a physical response and it always used to be. When our
mind is stressed our body thinks that it is under attack and switches
into so called “fight or flight’’ mode releasing adrenaline and
causes the number or reactions from the boost of mental and physical
energy to unnecessary functions like digestion. So
on the first look stress can boost us to make things we could have
never done and increase our working ability a lot. Nothing bad it
seems, but there is one problem. This stress has the second mode,
which is called “freezing’’. And
this mode is the best friend of all of us, because it doesn’t do
anything useful, but causes pauses in our thinking processes and both
mental and physical activity, Our brain thinks that everything is
fine and there is no need to do anything, the body will be able to
manage at the very last stage. But as we know, that’s not true.
The more we
live the more we face the problem that we are stuck in all kind of
activities. More commonly in studying and work, of course, because
they require energy and efforts which our body often doesn’t want
to make.
2. By all
means, there are both good and bad sides of
stress. Let’s take a brief look on both of them.
The good
side of the stress is of course an increased level of working
productivity.
If we
manage our time well enough and start making tasks or anything else
as soon as possible we’ll probably even not feel that our organism
is stressed, because it will only help by giving power and wish to do
everything. The stress will not influence badly on our mood so we
will keep the high spirit. Time-management
is one of the crucial points of making stress playing on your side,
you will not even notice how easy everything becomes.
Your head
and mind make some free space to the new things and you become more
creative and multitasking.
Your mood
becomes better, you are open to the whole world, to the new people
because you are not worried about the problems which are coming
ahead. You have a plan and you follow it without any excesses.
Now let’s
switch to the bad sides of it.
Of course,
it looks like you have lost of free time if you put all your problems
away, you feel free and full of energy. But wait for a while, soon
you find out that it was a myth you’ve created and believed in,
that it’s not true and everything is as bad as possible. Suddenly
there are lots of debts in your university, you boss is furious with
the deadlines which you’ve missed, you start to feel upset, useless
and there is nowhere to call for a help. Your mood level is awful,
you can start ruin relationships with
people and the bad side of the stress you have fallen in will
negatively affect all the aspects of your life. There is no way out,
because even if you decide to wait for all your problems to leave you
are just unable to wait forever and there will be a point when you’ll
have to face the problem. So isn’t it better to be prepared and to
start finding the way out before you at the point
of no return?
3. Now
it’s just the right time to take a look on how to avoid being in a
situation when everything is awful.
To avoid
the bad sides of the stress there are lost of steps, but I’d like
to stop on those which I find the most important.
Time-management.
The most
important and the most difficult I would say. We can make plans in
our head, we can write them on the paper but we almost never start to
follow those plans. And definitely in vain.
Living by a plan gives us lots of free time, we spend time working
without causing anything
bad to our organism. We
have meals as soon as we need them, not when we have time for it
which is also very important.
Having a
good sleep. Not a secret that people love sleeping but as soon as
we’re all in debts we don’t have it enough. Some people think
that 4-5 hour-sleep is enough but that is a lie. Your organism is
tired, productivity is much less than It could be and you’re unable
to live properly. Sleep is also tightly connected to the
time-management and you must always keep your organism an opportunity
to have a rest for at least 8 hours.
Do not
slave to technologies.
How much
time do we spent in front of the computer with no work or use to
yourself? Or how often do you take phone without any proper purpose?
It killes time and fill your mind with useless information. I am
sure, that by reducing time using gadgets and devices can make
everything better. It goes without saying that modern life is
impossible without all those devices, but we use them too much.
To sum it all up, I want to
say that it of course depends on each individually how he or she will
make their life be. You can be kind of a person who can easily manage
doing everything at last and having no problems with it, but I am
sure, that it’s important to keep balance in things. If you manage
your time you will be able to make stress your best friend, and this
is the only friend which will never leave you, how good or bad it is,
remember it.

ОтветитьУдалитьHowever, the conclusion could be stronger, i.e. I wouldn't mention "individual cases" but go straight to the point (and delete the first two sentences of the conclusion).
I'd also recommend go over the body paragraph and try to shorten some of the sentences to avoid repetition of ideas. You would also benifit from it as you won't have to memorize such a long piece of text ;)
Again, no push, just something to consider in order to sound more confident when presenting the speech to the audience :)
