Your body is both your friend and an enemy
I remember myself feeling awkward because I had stage fright symptoms but never talked to anyone about them. Now I feel awkward because I know about them, but I have them all.
I remember as it was yesterday how I had to give a speech during the university contests in my first year and how nervous I was. I came into the classroom full of confidence in my abilities, but one step forward of the main judge and all my confidence collapsed. My breathing became so loud as if I had a plane in my lungs which is about to be off the ground. I couldn't feel the pen with my fingers because they were cold like the temperature was below zero and at the same time I've been sweating as if I had run 5 km marathon. I couldn't sit on my chair because I wanted to move, to do something, but as soon as I came on the stage - everything vanished. I wanted to lay down and nothing more, all my energy left my body and I was alone, what's worse - I was alone and sweaty.
Anyway it turned out quite alright and I broke through that paticular perfomance, but I did not analyze it neither after the first perfomance, nor after all of the following ones. so every symptom was spotted before the speech.
So now it's time to choose the strategy of facing the stage fright.
The best thing for me is making myself laugh. I believe that laugh is the key to everything and probably this is not an exception. Especially if you're trying to exaggerate your symptoms, I would like to try make myself sweaty, it's probably funny.
I cannot say anything about eating healthy food because I've never done it one purpose, but I truly believe and 100% agree that the best solution is practice. The more you practise - the better you become.
I am surprised to see that dressing up is one of the ways to fight the stage fright. I never gave any meaning to it but I always felt more relaxed during dressing up. Yes, I like the process of it and now will spend even more time doing it.
In any case I think all of these points are valuable to know and easy to use, so I can try new things and work on those which I find the most useful.

I loved this story. I have never related so much! Public speaking is really a difficult task no matter who you are. I enjoyed your thorough description and vivid details. This helped me picture myself in your shoes. You must find your strategy and practice, practice, practice! Good work. Here are some minor fixes.
ОтветитьУдалить1.but I always felt more relaxed while I was dressing up. I would not use during in that sentence.
2. In any circumstance (this means a problem or situation you encounter), I think each of these points are valuable to know and easy to use. For now, I can try these new things and work on those that I find to be most useful.
